Creating fencing around your plot with the resources you have to hand

Building deer fencing from local trees is a sustainable and resourceful solution for protecting gardens and crops. By using materials sourced directly from your surroundings, you not only reduce costs but also minimise environmental impact. Local trees provide sturdy, natural fencing that blends seamlessly into the landscape while offering effective protection against deer. Step 1:

Identify trees with diameters of 4-6”

[ ] Tag + Identify species (Refer to an arborist if required)

Step 2:

Fell selected trees and cut to size

[ ] (4-6”) x 10 (Confirm Quantity of 4” / 5” / 6”

Step 3:

Strip the bark off the poles and prep for install

[ ] Use a draw knife to strip the bark

[ ] Soak the poles with a natural preservative

Step 4:

Install the poles with concrete footings

[ ] Using an auger to create equal holes around your plot for your fencing poles

[ ] Using concrete and a level install the poles

Step 5:

Install fencing around your plot using your newly sourced and installed poles
